Atonment

We could not as human beings enjoy this life if is wasn't for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We would not be able to progress in this life and most importantly, we would not be able to return to our Heavenly Father. The Atonement was an essential part of Heavenly Father's plan, without it human kind could not move forward. I am thankful to my Savior for sacrificing his life, so that I might have the opportunity to repent and find forgiveness. As members of the church we have all the tools necessary to return with the Father, all we need to do is follow the Father and Savior's example.

1. None Were With Him
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, April 2009 General Conference: Sunday Morning Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2009/04/none-were-with-him?lang=eng&query=none+were+with+him
“With all the conviction of my soul I testify that He did please His Father perfectly and that a perfect Father did not forsake His Son in that hour. Indeed, it is my personal belief that in all of Christ’s mortal ministry the Father may never have been closer to His Son than in these agonizing final moments of suffering. Nevertheless, that the supreme sacrifice of His Son might be as complete as it was voluntary and solitary, the Father briefly withdrew from Jesus the comfort of His Spirit, the support of His personal presence. It was required, indeed it was central to the significance of the Atonement, that this perfect Son who had never spoken ill nor done wrong nor touched an unclean thing had to know how the rest of humankind – us, all of us – would feel when we did commit such sins. For His Atonement to be infinite and eternal He had to feel what it was like to die not only physically but spiritually, to sense what it was like to have the divine Spirit withdraw, leaving one feeling totally, abjectly, hopelessly alone.”

“Brothers and sisters, one of the great consolations of this Easter season is that because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so. His solitary journey brought great company for our little version of that path—the merciful care of our Father in Heaven, the unfailing companionship of this Beloved Son, the consummate gift of the Holy Ghost, angels in heaven, family members on both sides of the veil, prophets and apostles, teachers, leaders, friends. All of these and more have been given as companions for our mortal journey because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the Restoration of His gospel. Trumpeted from the summit of Calvary is the truth that we will never be left alone nor unaided, even if sometimes we may feel that we are. Truly the Redeemer of us all said: “I will not leave you comfortless: [My Father and] I will come to you [and abide with you].”

3. The Power of Deliverance
Elder L. Tom Perry, April 2012 General Conference: Sunday Afternoon Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/the-power-of-deliverance?lang=eng&query=the+power+of+deliverance
“What a blessing it is to have the account of the mission of our Lord and Savior declared in the Book of Mormon to add a second witness to the doctrine declared in the Bible. Why is it important for the world to have both the Bible and the Book of Mormon? I believe the answer is found in the 13th chapter of 1 Nephi. Nephi records: “And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen among the Gentiles [the Book of Mormon], shall establish the truth of the first [the Bible], which are of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, and shall make known the plain and precious things which have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved” (verse 40).”

4. Spiritual Whirlwinds
Elder Neil L. Andersen, April 2014 General Conference: Saturday Morning Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/spiritual-whirlwinds?lang=eng
“Embrace more deeply His love, His mercy and grace, and the powerful gifts of His Atonement.”

5. The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ
Elder D. Todd Christofferson, April 2014 General Conference: Sunday Morning Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/the-resurrection-of-jesus-christ?lang=eng
In the words of Elder Neal A. Maxwell: “Christ’s victory over death ended the human predicament. Now there are only personal predicaments, and from these too we may be rescued by following the teachings of him who rescued us from general extinction.”

6. The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ
Elder D. Todd Christofferson, April 2014 General Conference: Sunday Morning Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/the-resurrection-of-jesus-christ?lang=eng
“By the same token, we are all accountable to Him for our lives, our choices, and our actions, even our thoughts. Because He redeemed us from the Fall, our lives are in reality His.”

7.   Atonement, Agency, Accountability
Elder Boyd K. Packer, April 1988 General Conference: Sunday Afternoon Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1988/04/atonement-agency-accountability?lang=eng&query=atonement
“How the Atonement was wrought, we do not know. No mortal watched as evil turned away and hid in shame before the light of that pure being.”

8.  Atonement, Agency, Accountability
Elder Boyd K. Packer, April 1988 General Conference: Sunday Afternoon Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1988/04/atonement-agency-accountability?lang=eng&query=atonement
By this infinite sacrifice, through this atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.
Atonement is really three words: At-one-ment, meaning to set at one, one with God; to reconcile, to conciliate, to expiate.”

9. The Atonement and the Value of One Soul
Elder M. Russell Ballard, April 2004 General Conference: Sunday Afternoon Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2004/04/the-atonement-and-the-value-of-one-soul?lang=eng&query=atonement
“There is no greater expression of love than the heroic Atonement performed by the Son of God. Were it not for the plan of our Heavenly Father, established before the world began, in a very real sense, all mankind—past, present, and future—would have been left without the hope of eternal progression.”

10.  The Atonement and the Value of One Soul
Elder M. Russell Ballard, April 2004 General Conference: Sunday Afternoon Session, https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2004/04/the-atonement-and-the-value-of-one-soul?lang=eng&query=atonement
“The Atonement of Jesus Christ was an indispensable part of our Heavenly Father’s plan for His Son’s earthly mission and for our salvation.”
